Gertrude Jekyll border in Greenwich Park

Greenwich Park’s great herbaceous border is one of London’s most prominent planting schemes — admired, well cared for, and widely photographed. But could it also become a living demonstration of one of the most influential ideas in British garden design?

I’ve written a short article suggesting how Gertrude Jekyll’s colour planning — inspired by JMW Turner’s paintings — might offer a fresh, historically grounded way of thinking about the border’s future, without erasing its present achievements.
