Gardens in Iraq

Iraq may well be the place where the first ornamental gardens were made, but all trace of the ancient gardens has disappeared from Mesopotamia, Assyria, Babylon, Sumer and Elam. They were lost to neglect, floods and invasions. Since mud and unfired mud brick were the main materials for garden construction, their loss is unsurprising.
