Longfellow House and Garden

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow lived here from 1837 to 1775. The house is clapperboard colonial. Charles Eliot was asked to redesign the park in the late nineteenth century and Ellen Biddle Shipman did a planting scheme. The National Park Service restored the garden to its colonial style, emphasising the formality of the original layout.
