Built in 1870 as the private residence for the Count of Valencia, Lapa Palace stands on a hill overlooking the Tagus River and is centrally located in the Embassy district. The garden has ancient trees (including two 250 year-old Australian ficus trees), streams, waterfalls, a hand-painted fountain depicting the Commerce Square in Lisbon and a heated outdoor swimming pool. Many of the rooms overlook the peaceful gardens. Lisbon airport is only 12 kms from Lapa Palace. There is free parking at the hotel.
