Lapa Palace

Built in 1870 as the private residence for the Count of Valencia, Lapa Palace stands on a hill overlooking the Tagus River and is centrally located in the Embassy district. The garden has ancient trees (including two 250 year-old Australian ficus trees), streams, waterfalls, a hand-painted fountain depicting the Commerce Square in Lisbon and a heated outdoor swimming pool. Many of the rooms overlook the peaceful gardens. Lisbon airport is only 12 kms from Lapa Palace. There is free parking at the hotel. Gardens to visit while staying at Lapa Palace include Palacio de Fronteira, Calouste Bulbenkian, Estufa Fria and Estufa Quente (15 mins drive), Jardim Botanico (10 mins drive), Jardim do Cerco, Palacio de Marques de Pombal, Palacio Nacional de Queluz (20 mins drive), Quinta da Regaleira (35 mins drive) and Monserrate (35 mins drive). Jardim da Estrela is a 10 minute walk from the hotel.
