Shakespeare Garden

Chicago Landscape Architect Jens Jensen, already interested in the relationship between theatre and nature, designed the Shakespeare Garden in response to the Drama League of America's request for activities to commemorate the 300th anniversary of Shakespeare's death (1616). The garden is separated from the street by 6-ft hedges and planted with the flowers, herbs, and trees mentioned in Shakespeare's plays. The garden is approximately 70 feet wide and 120 feet long.
