Japanese Garden in Washington Park

The Japanese Garden was designed in 1963 by Professor Takuma Tono (head of Landscape Architecture at Tokyo Agricultural University) and opened in 1967. Use is made of 'borrowed scenery' the view across Portland to the Cascade Mountains and Mount Hood. There is a Strolling Pond Garden, a Natural Garden, a Sand and Stone Garden, a Flat Garden and a Tea Garden.
