The Garden Guide

Rikugien Stroll Garden

A stroll garden made by Yanagisawa-Yoshimasa and designed to represent 88 picturesque scenes. The name of the garden comes from the six principles of Chinese poetry. The garden was given to the City of Tokyo in 1938. It has a central pond with small islands and the islands have a collection of rare stones. There is a high point in the north of the garden which provides a viewpoint and the south-east section of the garden is flat.
