The Manik Bagh Ruby Garden (1930) is a modernist design and forms a U round a central pond. The house was designed by Eckart Muthesius (Hermann Muthesius) in the 1930s but the famous Art Deco fittings were sold off and the palace was taken over by the Customs and Excise department. Though classified as Art Deco they were well down the road to Abstract modernism Muthesius' landscape architecture resembles the design of the space around the Bauhaus. The Customs and Excise department look after the space but in a more Victorian style (see hyperlink, below).
