Heyward Washington Garden

The Heyward-Washington House was the home of Thomas Heyward, a signatory of the Declaration of Independence, and George Washington's temporary home in 1791. The re-created formal garden, dating from the 1930s, is planted with material available to Charlestonians in the eighteenth century but looks like a nineteeth century garden.
