"Hesperidengärten" means the "Gardens of the Hesperides". The Hesperides are nymphs in Greek mythology, who tended the goddess Hera's orchard. The gardens are situated just outside the Nuremberg city walls in the St. Johannis district. Originally, there was a ring of gardens around the city walls but only these have been restored.
