Sri Lanka is famous for its fragrant spice gardens of cinnamon, cardomon, tumeric, nutmeg, clove, curry leaf trees. This spices are used medicinally as well as in the delicious Sri Lankan cuisine. Cinnamon is native to the island. The highlands of Sri Lanka have many tea estates, where Ceylon Tea is grown. Sri Lanka was known as Ceylon until 1972.
