Shuro fibre ropes

For tying purposes are generally used ropes made of shuro (a kind of palm) fibres, dyed black, or of young warabi (bracken) or wisteria vine; they give a rustic effect and durability. Needless to say that there are various kinds of knots to suit different purposes which the gardeners have devised to show off their artistry.
