Niagara Parks Botanical Garden

Niagara Parks' Botanical Gardens were established in 1936 and are beautifully maintained by students at the Niagara Parks School of Horticulture. Canada is one of the world's leading countries for formal bedding and this is a great place to see the art perfected. One can imagine that Queen Victoria still rules an empire on which the sun never sets. The climate is part of the explanation for Canada's continuing love affair with carpet bedding. Bedding plants can be brought on in hothouses and planted out to soak up the summer heat. Niagara Parks' Botanical Gardens also has a Butterfly Conservatory and collections of herbaceous perennials, rhododendrons, azaleas, shade plants, herbs and vegetables.
