Kenroku-en Garden

Kenroku-en was made for a daimyo family between 1620 and 1840 and is one of the official 'Three Great Gardens of Japan'. Its name, meaning Six Attributes Garden, derives from the "Chronicles of the Famous Luoyang Gardens" by the Chinese poet Li Gefei. The Six Attributes of a beautiful landscape are: waterways, spaciousness, artifice, antiquity, seclusion and panoramas.
