Dow Gardens

The garden was started, in 1900, by the man who founded the Dow Chemical Company. It was then developed by his son, an architect who had studied with Frank Lloyd Wright. The garden is inventive and imaginative. Its red lacquered handrails and bridges remind one of Wright's enthusiasm for Japanese and Chinese design, but they are modern in conception (more influenced by Art Deco than Cubism).
