Margaret and Hugo Dixon had their house designed by John Staub, in 1940, in a Georgian Revival style. The gardens were set in native Tennessee woodlands and designed like an English park with open vistas oak and hickory. The garden designers were Hugo Dixon and his sister, Hope Crutchfield, an English garden designer living in Vermont. They have a cross-axis with sculpture at strategic points 'Europa and the Bull', 'The Four Seasons', 'The Venus of Memphis'. There is also a Cutting Garden designed in 1998.
