Cooley Gardens

Cooley Gardens was designed by Edward H. Laird, a landscape architect, in a geometrical Beaux Arts style typical of the 1930s. The gardens had a period of popularity and then of decline as the surrounding houses deteriorated and I-496 severed the gardens downtown. A revival began in the 1980s with the garden becoming more Arts and Crafts in style and having more flowers.
