Chateau de Dampierre

The renaissance garden was illustrated by du Cerceau c 1560. As illustrated by Gothein, it had a rectangular enclosed garden with the chateau at one corner of the garden. A new chateau was designed by Mansart in 1675, with a new garden by Le Notre. The main elements of this layout survive and are a major example of Le Notre's style.
