Castello di Miramare Trieste

A nineteenth century palace and garden designed for Archduke Maximilian of Habsburg (later the Emperor of Mexico) by Carl Junker and Antonio Jelinek. Despite its lush planting and Adriatic setting, the castle and parterre are sited and designed like an Alpine Schloss.
