Boerner Botanical Gardens

This is one of the few parks to be named after a landscape architect and is a tribute to Alfred L. Boerner promotion of public parks. Boerner believed a park should have both aesthetic and educational dimensions - that the aesthetics should be based on Beaux Art principles. The Botanical Gardens have axes centering on a fountain and they serve as malls for perennials and annuals.
