Arboretum Volčji Potok

Volčji Potok Arboretum was established in 1952 by University of Ljubljana. It is famous for its spring display of tulips and daffodils.

Head Gardener's Comment

The Volčji Potok Arboretum is a botanical garden for wood plants, the only one in Slovenia. It is a natural cultural monument of national significance.

There are about 2.500 cultivars of coniferous and deciduous trees and shrubs are and around 300 wild herbaceous species growing in Volčji Potok.

Activities: park maintenance, plant collection care, education, growing of young plants, sales of plantes, designing and implemeting decorative works in gardens and parks, flower shows etc.

History

The Arboretum has been marked by numerous events in the past. Some of them are visible, others can only be extracted from various historical documents. But the orientation of paths, the placement of buildings and park scenes reflect the typical historical land ue patterns.

The Volčji Potok Arboretum was founded in year 1952 and has been taking care of the centuries long heritage ever since.
