Well drains

Previous - Next

The drain for ornamental Wells consists of an irregular bed of pebbles surrounding the well-frame, with a hidden outlet. The ornamental rocks are distributed outside this stony bed. The trees, shrubs, lanterns, and rocks appropriate to Wells will be noted under their respective heads. Various Garden Wells are illustrated in Plates XXI., XXVIII., XXIX., XXX., and XXXI.; and Fig. 23 shows the situation of a simple Well in relation to the verandah of a house.
