1863. The conic blanching-pot is in the form of a sugar-loaf, and is used in France for blanching lettuce and endive. (Lasteyrie.) In Valencia, asparagus is blanched stalk by stalk, by portions of reed with a knot or joint being placed over each. (Ibid.)
