A Dutch artist and architect. Theo van Doesburg founded De Stijl magazine in 1917. The magazine gave its name to a group of artists and architects which included Mondrian, Huszar and Vantongerloo, Oud and Rietveld. The style was abstract. Forms were generalised from natural shapes and forms. Primary colours were used. Theo van Doesburg influenced the Bauhaus and, through it, the development of modern garden design and modernist landscape architecture and design.
