Leonardo was regarded in his own life, and since his death, as one of the greatest of geniuses. He was born in Florence. From 1482-99 he was in Milan, from 1499-1500/6 he was in Florence, from 1506-13 he was in Mlan, from 1513-19 he was in France. He died at Cloux, near Amboise but his grave was lost during the French Revolution.
