Loudon, Jane Wells

Jane Wells Webb was born in Birmingham in 1800. Until recently, her dates were believed to be 19 August 1807 – 13 July 1858. The correct date of Jane Loudon's birth, given by her daughter, Agnes Loudon, was 19th August 1800. She moved to Kitwell Hall, near Halesowen, when her father had a financial difficulty, and to London when her father died in 1824. In London Jane worked as an author and editor until, in 1830 she met and married John Claudius Loudon.
