The Garden Guide

Leslie, George Dunlop

Born - Died : 1835 - 1921

English landscape and genre painter, trained at the Royal Academy School. Leslie was the son of another painter, C R Leslie. He trained at the Royal Academy School and was influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites. He moved to Wallingford-on-Thames where he lived, in a mansion on Thames Street, by the river. The garden in his painting In Time of War resembles his 1904 painting of the Wizard's Garden. Leslie was a keen gardener and this may be his own garden in Wallingford.
