Herefordshire is one of the least densely populated in England. The land is hills, valleys and meadows. It is an agricultural area famous for its fruit and cider production. The two estates which once gave Herefordshire a leading place in garden history survive but are not open to the public: Downton Castle (which belonged to Richard Payne Knight) and Foxley (which belonged to Uvedale Price).

In addition to the Herefordshire Garden Finder entries in the list, please see the Garden Tours pages for information on tours, self-guided visits tailor-made tours and gardens open to the public.
