An old house with a seventeenth century garden (influenced by renaissance Italy) which was re-discovered in the nineteenth century and planted in the Arts and Crafts style in the twentieth cnetury. The original design was by John Tradescant. It has a mount and a grass-terraced tilt yard. The mount is now a rose garden but still permits views out of the garden. The entrance courtyard has Jacobean gatehouses and the surrounding woods are at least as old.
