Design for the Brighton Pavilion

Previous - Next

Mr. Repton's plans for the Pavillon at Brighton are now before the public, who must decide whether those that have been substituted in their stead, are improvements or otherwise. But the original designs had been received by the Prince, with these unqualified words of approbation:-"Mr. Repton, I consider the whole of this work as perfect, and will have every part of it carried into immediate execution; not a tittle shall be altered,-even you yourself shall not attempt any improvement." A difficulty arose, however, as to the means of supplying the funds for the commencement of the works, which caused a delay that terminated as we have before shewn.
