There are still other branches of art, or customs, which may be cited in this connection, but those already enumerated should be sufficient to show that the people of Nippon have a passionate love for Nature in their innate character, and that it is revealed in different forms of their art. However, it is our present purpose to deal only with one manifestation, their gardens. Moreover, an exhaustive treatment of this fascinating subject is here impossible: it will be no more than an introduction to the charms of their beauty.
