2228. Menageries were formerly attached to most of the royal gardens and parks of Europe. The most complete examples are those of the Jardin des Plantes in Paris, and of the two London Zoological Gardens, constructed and arranged, as much as possible, according to the nature and habits of the different animals enclosed. The subject, however, can hardly be considered within our department.
