2040. Double espalier rails, of various kinds, have been adopted, and found economical, from their giving a double surface for branches. They are generally from 18 inches to 2 or 3 feet wide, on the ground-line, 4 or 5 feet high, and meeting in a point at top, so that the section of one of these espalier rails is that of an acute-angled triangle.
