Cross trellising

2167. The cross trellis has been sometimes employed in peach-houses, and was strongly recommended by the late Sir George Mackenzie, in what he called an economical hothouse. These trellises, however, unless kept very low, darken the house to such a degree as to prevent the ripening of fruits.
