1710. The Spanish hoe (fig. 335.), lately called Lord Vernon's new tillage hoe (see Gard. Mag., vol. viii. p. 689.), is a powerful implement for penetrating into hard soils; or, when made on a small scale, with a short handle (as in fig. 336.), it is well adapted for stirring the ground among small articles.
