1041. The organs of plants are either elementary or compound. This part of the science of botany is, however, so extensive, that, in an outline like the present, it cannot be treated with much advantage to the student; we must, therefore, confine ourselves to giving the young gardener an idea of how much he has to learn on the subject; and we must refer him to Dr. Lindley's Elements of Botany, to the same author's Introduction to Botany, 4th edit., or some similar work, for fuller information on the subject.
