Hodnet Hall Gardens

A Victorian house, designed by Anthony Salvin in 1870, Hodnet Hall Gardens have a Tudor dovecote and a well planted woodland garden with a lake.

Head Gardener's Comment

The gardens were started in 1922 when a chain of seven lakes and pools was created with rare trees and shrubs. Rhododendrons and camellias thrive in the acid soil; iris and other bog plants enjoy their position around the pools.

April is the perfect time to admire the camellias, crocuses, daffodils, and the magnificent Magnolia Walk. May & June showcases rhododendrons, lilacs, azaleas and bluebell woods. High summer is brimming with peonies, hydrangeas, roses and many other flowering shrubs, the colours lasting right through September.
