Columbia Road Flower Market began as a food market and later became a place where traders from Covent Garden Flower market could sell off their stock. The idea of holding a public flower market arrived in London with Huguenot immigrants from France, Belgium and Holland. Columbia Road Flower Market is now a considerable tourist attraction as well as being popular with local residents. The market offers a better range of flowers, and some interesting garden plants, than other shops, markets and garden centres in London.
