The Botanical Garden was established in 1890 by E. L. Greene, the first chairman of the Department of Botany. In the 1920s the garden was moved to Strawberry Canyon with a landscape design by J. W. Gregg from the University's Department of Landscape Design. The garden was organized on a geographical basis in settings resembling native habitats. There are over 12,000 different kinds of plants from around the world displayed over 34 acres.

Opening times - All year. Daily except first Tuesday of the month, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year. Open 9am to 5pm.

    Absolutely stunning garden, especially in February, when the magnolias and rhododendrons are in full bloom. Located on the Berkeley campus near San Francisco. You will find something in flower here throughout the year. Well worth the visit if you are in the area!
