A medieval house with a twentieth century garden set within a 1,000 acre estate. Beatrix Farrand, the famous American garden designer, designed the courtyard (1933-8). Percy Cane designed the glade, the azalea dell and a handsome flight of steps (1945). The tilt yard is surrounded by steep grass terraces.

    the garden "flows" from the tilt yard and its steep grass terraces. Its not a heavily planted garden but what there is together integrates nice with the house and landscape.
