The hotel is located on a private island 200 metres off the coast of South Devon. Burgh Island has 26 acres of parkland. At low tide, the hotel can be reached by walking over the sandy beach separating the island from the mainland. At high tide, the hotel's unique sea tractor transports guests back and forth. The Grade II listed building was completed in 1929 and the entire hotel is in the Art Deco style.
Gardens to visit while staying at Burgh Island include Overbeck's Museum and Garden (12 miles), Coleton Fishacre Garden (23 miles) and Mount Edgcumbe House and Park (29 miles).
