Dating back to the thirteenth century, Ruthin Castle is a red sandstone fort set in 35 acres of gardens, parkland and woodland on the banks of the River Clwyd. The castle formed part of the Crown Estate until Charles I sold it in 1632. Most of the rooms overlook the gardens.
Gardens to visit while staying at Ruthin Castle Hotel include Chirk Castle (24 miles) and Erddig Garden (20 miles).
