Wyck Garden

Reuben Haines III and Jane Bowne (1790-1843) made the rose garden, which survives in good condition. She also kept a notebook in which she recorded details of the garden lists of rose plantings, starting in 1818 at the latest. Reuben made a a Catalogue of Plants at Wyck in 1825. It is likely that they had a copy of J C Loudon's Encyclopedia of Gardening and possibly a copy of Humphry Repton's books on landscape gardening, with illustrations of rose gardens.
