The Lingering Garden (Liu Yuan)

One of the four Suzhou gardens listed by UNESCO. It was a scholar garden originally known as the East Garden (its present name dates from the nineteenth century). The garden is entered through a twisting narrow passage, 50 m in length, which leads to views of the lake through brilliant grilled windows. The path then leads to a roofed walkway (lang) bordering the lake. The architectural structures divide the garden into four sections.
