Klehm Arboretum and Botanic Garden

William Lincoln Taylor established the Rockford Nursery on this site in 1910 and began planting. It was bought by the Klehm family and given to the Winnebago County Forest Preserve District in 1986. The 155 acres are home to an historic plant collection and rare trees as well as a Fountain Garden, Peony Garden, Hosta Garden, Prehistoric Garden and Children's Garden with maze. Seasonal hightlights include the magnolia trees in spring, the Butterfly Garden in summer, vibrant colours in the fall and snow capped evergreens in winter.
