Hill Close Gardens

Hill Close Gardens are an interesting group of hedged gardens, designed to be used and enjoyed by the shopkeepers and professional people who did not have space for gardens adjoining their homes - because they lived over their businesses. The gardens are enclosed by hedges and many of them had a summer house which could be used for an evening or weekend meal. The idea is similar to that of the 'kline garten' as found in other North European gardens.

Opening times Summer opening times: April 1st to October 31st gardens open 11am - 5pm. Tearoom open weekends & bank holidays. Winter opening times: November 1st to March 31st, 11 - 4pm weekdays only. Self-service refreshments available during the week. Closed Christmas to New Year.
