Goethe's Hausgarten, Weimar

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832) lived in the house for more than forty years. In his time, the garden served a dual purpose as a kitchen garden and as a site on which Goethe conducted his botanical experiments. The garden has been preserved in its layout of the 1820s and been open to the public since 1886.
