Dragon Garden at Druk White Lotus School DWLS

The Dragon Garden has a most beautiful location in the Indus Valley at Shey in Ladakh. It was made for the Druk White Lotus School. 'Druk' means 'Dragon' in Ladaki, which is a similar language to Tibetan. Snow-capped mountains, including (Stok Kangri @ 6,153 metres) surround the school and it became a popular tourist destination partly because of its fame as the location for '3 Idiots' movie. It is known as 'Rancho's School' associated with Aamir Khan. The garden was designed by landscape architects from the University of Greenwich in London, working as volunteers. The beautiful garden makes use of Buddhist symbolism, including dragons in the Dragon Playground and dragon shelterbelts protecting the garden from dust and wind. The school is managed by an NGO governing body. It depends on volunteers and on charitable contributions for design and construction - please see the website for information on how to donate. Help is most welcome.
