1.0/5 (1 ratings)This famous London Square was designed by Charles Barry in the Italian Style. The design was modified in 2002-3, when the north side of the Square was pedestrianised, by making a central flight of steps leading down from the National Gallery to the fountains. The lions which overlook the fountains were designed by Sir Edwin Landseer. It is a popular place for demonstrations. Some 2,000 square metres of turf was laid in Trafalgar Square for 2 days in May 2007 to promote green spaces and villages in London.
Trafalgar Square is on the London Gardens Walk and included in the eBook guide to the London Gardens Walk
