An island castle with a garden on its slopes. The gardens cling to a near-vertical granite rock face above the sea. However, the warm Gulf Stream along with the heat-retentive granite walls and bedrock, enable a wide variety of tender and exotic plants to be grown in the South-facing gardens. There are sweeping avenues and a walled garden first planted in the 1780s. Throughout the summer and into autumn, there are popular garden evenings, with tours of the garden followed by a wonderful buffet meal at the Sail Loft Restaurant.
